A legend of the golden era of Formula 1

Under the leadership of company founder Colin Chapman, the Lotus 79 was developed by the Lotus team for the 1978 season. It was the first car to make full use of ground-effect aerodynamics, an idea first applied on its direct predecessor, the Lotus 78.

The 79 is considered to be the first Formula 1 car designed with the help of computers, and the first whose performance data was analyzed by computers in the pit lane during race weekends.
